I am ashamed to admit that it has been over a year since I’ve made any updates to this blog.  I’m happy to share a couple of my resolutions for 2010 with you:

• Get back into the habit of posting and exploring new ideas here at www.matt-davis.com
• Stop eating at Waffle House so darn much.

“Bethlehem at the Barn” @ Hebron Preschool…

I just finished reading Seth Godin's latest book while I was on a plane to Detroit last week.  "Tribes" is all about stepping up and leading a group of people and being part of a movement. 

Mr. Godin was one of the memorable speakers at Catalyst, so I wandered over to his blog today and noticed this post about Best Buy and Pepsi considering changes to their logo's and marketing.  Given my history with the big yellow tag, this caught my eye. 

I agree that your brand is more about your customer's experience and your reputation than what image people associate with you.  A new logo or new personality may draw people to give you a second look – but they sure won't stick around very long if they don't find something substantial.

Hannah Grace is almost a year old! -MD

I was thinking that Chuck Todd would be my pick for Meet the Press, if I were given such power.  Check out Jonah's idea for Meet the Press here…

"The best choice on the list of possibilities is Chuck Todd. I know Chuck a little, but friendship isn't my motivation. I think he's the only person on the inside track who'd actually consider the show to be more important than his TV career. Russert famously considered himself a "custodian" of MTP. I'd bet that Chuck would hold the same devotion, if not even more intensely. And with the exception of Matthews, Chuck knows more about politics than all of the other contenders combined. 

So why not have the best of both worlds? Russert was many things, but he wasn't a "moderator." Moderators balance and direct debates. Russert, to his credit, was a prosecutor. Why not make Chuck Todd the actual moderator of the show and have him moderate a panel of journalists?

In a small way it would be a nice tribute to Russert to go back to the old panel format, demonstrating that his was a unique talent that justified breaking with the traditional approach."

Caleb has a favorite place to eat. There is a restaurant at the Gwinnett County Airport called the flying machine, and Caleb loves to watch the planes take of. Here we are in front of a plane that just pulled up in front of the restaurant with it’s pilot headed inside for dinner.
